Default Botched Repair Windshield Chip

So, travelling to Florida via Quebec City, they do not cover gravel loads in Quebec Province and impacted a large stone on my original windshield 87 Vanden Plas. Made the mistake of going to a windshield shop in Quebec who were more interested in selling me a winshield and of course they botched what would have been a simple chip repair any where else.

Now in Central Florida, Question can you fix a botched repair? Any recommendations on a winshield repair shop in central Florida?

Thanks

No, I do not. and, there may well be no practical fix for a botched job.

As I understand it, the fix is an injection of a clear resin to replace the missing glass.

So, postulating that the injection did not result in a clear view in lieu of the star, it seems the fix is removal of the clouded application to clear the way for a proper fix.

What I don't know is whether or not this is even feasible.

In your shoes, I would consider three approaches:

1. Find the oldest glazier in town and seek their counsel.

2. If you have comprehensive insurance on your car ask the insuror to fix or replace.

3. Live with it.

Good hunting.

Not sure how it works over there insurance wise, but.....

Here in the UK, any small chip etc can be fixed for free with the process you mentioned.

For me though, depending on the age of the windscreen, after time it gets peppered with small chips and could probably benefit from being replaced anyway?

A new windscreen here, depending on many factors can be £300 - £500 to supply & fit. For a fairly small fee on your insurance, around £50 - £75 this can be replaced.

Just curious if you have the same scenarios available and depending on your particular circumstances whether it would be worth going down this route?
