Brake lights dont work??
well i just got back from a 15 month deployment and i went to get my 84 Jag XJ6 out of storage. well it ran good and everything worked but my brake lights. tail lights and turn signals work but my brake lights dont. I checked the fuses in both driver and passenger seats and under the hood ( there good) and I used a curent tester on the sockets and they dont have any current. any ideas???? thank youfor your time.

RE: Brake lights dont work??
the fuses can fool you if they are the ones with a paper inside, so try replacing the fuse even if it looks good.
I take it you checked the Stop Bulbs? (the upper ones).
Next step is to remove the lenses and then eachtail lamp assembly to check the large Plug connecting the assembly to the wire harness. Take the plug with both hands and "twist" each half in a different direction while pushing them inwards, to make sure there is good contact everywhere. Also check the rear contacts in the tail lamp assembly.
Next check is the wire connectionsin the Brake Switchlocated under the Brake Pedal. (because you never know...)
My question is: Do the Driving lights go On ? (the Red, normal, "driving" light).
let us know what happens.
