I contacted a Jaguar mechanic and he tells me the holes are drilled through all the way in both the 6 and 12 cylinder heads and blocks. He also said the chances of the broken stub falling inside the engine are rare, just get a stud extractor and screw them out.

mystery solved!

my mechanic told me it could take him an hour or a day.

im not to worried b/c the one stud broke off at the end, so most of it is hanging out just not enuff for me to cap b/c of the bracket

the other broke in half, with half hanging aroound my neck and the other in the block

ill get it to him eventually. since i dont go back to work until labor day, im going to clean wire connections and work on interior improvements.

i read yesterday that you can isolate the antenna and work it manually with a switch, so i attempted that today and was successful until my radio refused to power up. the power probably came undone as i tried stuffing that sucker back in the slot.

you're welcome!
with the original radio wiring, the antenna goes down whenever you insert a cassette (or CD if correctly wired), it only comes up in Radio-mode. When using a car cover, this can be a problem, but otherwise why bother with a switch? (unless you have a Serius radio subscription).

i have a pioneer from 2002, xm ready and an ip bus port in the back. the bus port allows me to run a wire that has mulitple connectors (xm radio and i pod) under the aux mode. the problem is, whenever i power up,the antenna goes up automatically even if im in aux mode
