Default A/C Blower Motor and Fan

Hi All,

I just wondered if anyone has tried to increase the air flow from their A/C system. I was thinking about 3D printing a fan with larger blades, such as those found in a Volvo, or making it a bit wider and increasing the box size; or both. Anyone have any thoughts?

hardly any space in each fan box for a larger fan. Speed number 4 during a/c use is enough. Speed number 3 is used during heat use.

Fit a bigger/faster motor to the fan casing? They come apart quite easily - once they are out that is! But as Jose implied if the fans are slow, it might be that your fan speed resistor thingy on the aircon unit is partially broken. Assuming the Delanair II on your 1983 car. The part is RTC677 in the attached. One of the wires can break and this shuts down some of the speeds.

Just to clarify, I was trying to come up with some ways to maybe push a little more air out of the vents. Jaguar A/C systems have been known to be asthmatic. I had seen a Volvo a/c squirrel cage fan where the blades were broader (see picture below), and thought about trying this with one of mine. I planned on 3D printing a new fan to see if that would work. Just wondered if anyone else had tried something similar.

You might be the trailblazer on this.

The labor in removing the blower assemblies would discourage many for any experimenting.

Cheers

Hey Doug, you know what? You guys have helped me greatly with my ever increasing number of Jags (my wife says I've reached my limit), if I could do something to help anyone else, it would just be awesome!
