Cam oil feed banjo bolt sadness
I am replacing seals on cam oil feed banjo bolts and decided to just "upgrade" to longer bolts just in case my threads were bodged.
Got new bolts in about 3/4 way with plenty of lube, two turns fwd, one turn back. But at 3/4 they were NOT going any further.
Going to bail and use original length bolts. Lots of posts say there is plenty of thread in the head to use long bolts...I cannot concur on my '86

Randy,
I have not used longer banjo bolts on any 6cyl engine, and had no issues, lucky? doubt it,.
The real engine, YES, always, those tappet block threads are fickle if you look sideways at them.
I was always taught with banjo bolts and copper washers, "just firm", and that is always open to interpretation.
Carby banjo's were the major PITA back in the '60's.
