OH BUGGA.

How much clearance we talking here. HEAPS or just a few thousands of an inch ?????.

I HOPE you did NOT force that camshaft around??????, coz if you did, and IF the valve were in fact contacting the pistons???, there is a fair chance you have bent them, BUGGA again.

The usual bending is due to the inlet contacting the exhaust (or vice versa) with both camshafts installed and out of time.

Piston contact usually only kicks in if someone has machined the hell out of that head and reduced the clearances.

Extra clearance is about 10 thousands. There was only one cam installed at a time to avoid the common problem of the valves hitting each other.

I suspect the head has been machined at least once. However, spinning the cam on the exhaust side had no problems. Are the intake valve stems longer than the exhaust or are the intake valve diameters bigger than the exhaust on the XK6?

Except that with just the one, there is still the possibility of a valve hitting a piston ! The exhaust valves are smaller, so this is probably why you've4 got away with it, but the inlets are pretty big, so don't risk it !

Quick question -- what are the torque values for the 4 cam sprocket retaining bolts and the one idler sprocket shaft nut?
