Confused about injector seals
Hello all,
I'm restoring a 1986 XJ6, and slowly but surely reconnecting the rebuilt engine and getting ready to fire it up again, for the first time since I've owned it. This car is my first Jag experience, and I've been learning a lot and these forums have been very helpful.
My issue at the moment is regarding fuel injector seals. The old injectors aren't stuck and seem to work (although I haven't cleaned them yet), but the old rubber is dry and cracked. I ordered what's available from Moss Motors for replacements but that is only the EAC24514 (big rubber rings around the injector body) and EAC2415 (small rubber rings for around the tip). However although these are original Lucas 73179A injectors my car seems to by missing the C42077 parts which hold them in place against the brackets that are bolted to the manifold:
Is this normal? I can't seem to find any reference pics online. Otherwise the bracket just presses against the large rubber rings but they're smaller than the hole and seem like they could slip through. Here are pics (before clean-up):
