Converting s2 XJ12 to HE
Hi I have a 1979 XJ12 S2 ( injected) that I am in the process of fitting an HE V12 to. The engine has been fully rebuilt and will be mated to the manual gearbox ( 4 speed plus electric OD) that was fitted to the pre HE original engine. I am at the stage of installing the engine. I would appreciate any advice on what problems I may face. Will the original ECU work? has anyone bought one of the aftermarket injector wiring looms available with the high temp wiring?
All assistance greatly appreciated.
Regards David

David,
Physically it will fit the car, you already probably know that.
The D-Jetronic EFI system WILL NOT run a HE. They were P-Digital.
Many around here have used the Wolf3D on the HE with great success.
I think Spiteri in Melbourne are still agents for them????.
I have NOT done it or been involved in it, only seen maybe 6 HE cars with the system, and they seem to be extremely reliable. I believe the initial setting up was time consuming, but that was a looooong time ago, so maybe there are fuel maps etc readily available by now.
Complete rewiring of the engine bay will be required, as will the loom to the ECU in the boot, if that is where the new unit will go. 3 I know of have it under the LH front seat.
This will not be a quick job, however, very satisfying once done.

Converting s2 XJ12 to HE
Thanks for the responses Grant and Doug. Most helpful. I assume the Wolf system replaces the ECU. I do have a Motec unit that was removed from from a V12 Jaguar ( it came off one of Lindsay Fox's car). However the Motec man in Melbourne wants the car running before he will play!
Thanks again for the advise.
Cheers
