What's the deal with so many defective cold start injectors, on my third replacement?
my mechanic says his parts supplier said there is a defect in many of the injectors (i forget the brand)...
Any suggestions for quality manufacturer or part supplier OR advice on defect issue solutions, or "renovating" my used ones?
thanks very much! Will

Although this is the first I've heard of this particular issue some "brand-x" aftermarket replacement parts are junky, yes.
If you get Lucas or Bosch you should be Ok.....although I guess a "bad run" of parts can crop up from time to time even with well known name brands
What exactly is the nature of the failures? Leaking? Electrically inoperative? Mechanically inoperative? Perhaps there's another problem with the system that is causing the failure. Or perhaps the injectors are not bad at all but the problem isn't being correctly diagnosed?
Cheers

If they're actually clogging then it doesn't matter what brand they are. Clogging assumes fuel contamination, and contamination in the fuel doesn't recognize brand names!

I had a quick look on a UK website.
The cold start injector is turned on for 12 seconds by the Thermo-time switch, plus it is only turned on when the engine is being cranked by the starter. Once the driver releases the ignition switch on engine firing it is turned off. So even if you crank and crank, the maximum is 12 seconds, and one can understand why as the injector has no timing, it just squirts and squirts
Sorry if you knew this already !
