Default Cutting up a rust free 85 XJ6

No interest in a complete nice rust free car. Beautiful interior solid runner when parked in 1991 ( inside heated storage)
So I値l cut it up and scrap it. ( wifes insists.)

At least I値l put the bits and pieces to use. I値l save the dashboard and instruments. ( don稚 know why but too pretty to toss). Put the seats and carpet in my series 1 ( nothing wrong with the black leather seats but I think it will look nicer with the tan.). chop off a few pieces I might use. Upgrade the front brakes on my series 1.
Yank the rear shocks off ( replace with a 2x4 )
Pull the wheels and tires. Maybe even yank the head for the bigger valves it has.
I know. It痴 a crime. But no one has stepped up yet. I guess free is too high a price.

Surely you can sell the shell so it lives on rather than cutting it up.

Grow a set of @#lls and tell the wife to shut up

It痴 not that simple. I have cancer and don稚 want to leave her with anything like that.
I致e called every Jaguar junk yard and business advertising
The best I was offered was a polite turn down. Most simply didn稚 return my call.

Sad, yes. I'm sure everyone here wishes he could save them all but....we can't.

Great, and very unusual, that it is rust-free, but most would simply look at it as a parts car. Here's the problem.....

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...quotes-281958/

With lots of time and energy a person could break the car for parts but, truth is, lots of XJ6 parts are desirable but very few are valuable. The monetary return on investment is weak.

Cheers

Mguar - We are all very sorry to hear about your cancer. I too am 76 years old, and while I don't have your terrible diagnosis, I do realize the actuarial tables are not on my side. And I do NOT want to saddle my Wife of 54 years the burden of sorting through and parsing out the second love of my life. And I really would like my '75 XJ6C to go to someone who appreciates her, and... who can take care of her. She is ALWAYS a work in progress (as we all know). So, to that end I have marked all my plastic parts bins as being relative to my Jaguar, maintained and EXTENSIVE Maintenance Log for the past 20 years of ownership (both in hardcopy and in Excel), and put ALL my EXTENSIVE Library of electronic files on a USB stick for the next Care Giver. Notice I didn't say Owner as they OWN you. So, I applaud your efforts and sadness of minimizing the trauma that is ahead for your Wife. And I'm sure I speak for all of us on this valued Forum of Band of Brothers and Sisters, when we wish you the best of luck!

I was going to pull the good big valve head and clean and polish it. Hang my supercharger on it for a display engine.
The reality is I知 too weak post radiation to do that. I値l be lucky to get the interior swapped around.

I hope Scott can make a connection Mguar. It's a rust free Jag, shame to break it apart.

I知 located just west of MINNEAPOLIS Minnesota.
Disassembly has already begun. By this time tomorrow it likely will be ready to be hauled off for scrap.

Wow, highly unusual. The rockers and underside of my 86 look factory fresh but the window surrounds are perforated. Hate to see your car go like that, but you've done well to save what you have.

The parts taken will improve my series 1 which because I知 removing the 4.2 six cylinder and replacing it with a 5.3 V12. Isn稚 going to be original.
That plus I値l put a trailer hitch on it to tow my V12 race car.

Anybody want an owners manual for a series 3 XJ6.
If you pay the postage you can have it. Or drop by and pick up any parts you壇 like. Including a good engine and transmission.
