Demand for parts?

Yeah!
A guy has had a rear door for an XJ6 listed for what seems decades at $250.00. Tis kinda groungy looking as well.
Agree as to the hard parts, the demand would only be for the detachables, boot lid, bonnett lid doors and fenders. Chunks outta a rust bucket, not likley.
I had to give my good BW 66 away. No takers. And, the busted engine, ha! I was glad he took it with the trans.
I did sell some of the ancillaries. Radiator, AC compressor, alternator, and part of the air pump. Fifty bucks or so each. Mostly, just help for other guys. I did get skunked on a new fan and clutch.
Big issue is what does one do with a non roller hulk?

Cut it up with a Sawzall and call the trash collector. I'm serious. About fifteen years ago I had the stripped out hulk of an Alfa Romeo Milano (Alfa 75) on four jackstands in my driveway. I couldn't get anyone to haul it away. So...me and Junior cut it up with my Sawzall (he had a ball) called the trash collector and threw the pieces in the back of his truck. This was in the People's Republic of Massachusetts.

I sold parts car to the junkyard for this exact reason. I wanted the springy bits but totally immobilizing an unregistered car on the the street is not a neighborly thing to do. Of course, then I had to buy an IRS from them and other bits I didn't think to pull. Live and learn.
As for demand on hardparts, there seems to be very very little. I've been watching the S3's go through my local for the last few months. Out of 5 cars, I've seen one IFS and IRS get sold. A few brake parts here and there
get yanked but not often. Keep in mind this is at really cheap junkyard prices, not inflated on ebay.
Take a look at what is posted on ebay and has actually sold. That prevented me from pulling alot of crap that I wouldn't have a chance at selling. Don't let this stop you though, its kinda fun parting out a car and you always find interesting things inside. Also, its a great way to flesh out your bolt and hose clamp collections.

Way back when, one of my pals bought and sold old Ford parts. I traded a sick 34 V8 with a stripped starter ring gear for a 41 v8 that ran decent and had a healthy ring gear. Trouble was it had a carcked block!! Coolant kept getting in the oil!!! No problem, my after school job was at aservice station. The oil changes yielded plenty of good oil. The coupe I had was junky. I got it in trade for a pistol!! Not my every daydriver, just something to fool with. Raced it on a desert dirt track. Won no races, just a finish was a victory!!! Much better cars and drivers on the track!!! Some faster cars just couldn't stay last til the finish flag!!
After the saleables were harvested from the critters he acquired, he junked the carcass for scrap. Well, using an acetylene torch to cut them up ate the profit.
No chop saws or recips yet. A big axe and young muscle was his solution!!!

Unfortunately, with the prices of decent cars so low out here in California parting out a car is not a good proposition. I've parted out two cars over the last two years, but luckily I have a ranch that I can store them on while taking bits off. Both ended up mainly providing parts for my cars and those of fellow club members in the area. Kind of hard to charge friends so mostly I ended up getting a free lunch.
The last car I parted out I bought for $500.00 since it had an excellent set of Pepperpot alloys. Figured the Pepperpots that I fitted to my car were worth the $500.00 here in California. Traded the engine for some work with the local British Specialist here and saved all of the good parts and put them into storage.
And the worst bit was I had to pay to get rid of both carcasses when I was done.
