Door lock fuse ('87 XJ6 SIII)

Door lock fuse ('87 XJ6 SIII)
Door lock function (turn the key and all doors lock/unlock) seemed weak, so based on an old response from Doug I located the fuse in the RH side fuse box, #17. Cleaned the connectors, replaced the fuse, and it sounds much healthier. Love an easy fix!
My question is regarding what size of fuse. The old fuse, which looks like original Lucas, says Lucas 15A, 8A continuous. The slot it's in appears to say 5A, and the S57 may indicate 3A. I used a 15A. Does anyone know what it should be? I doubt it will cause any issues in any case, but am curious.

The S57 shows a 15 amp for the motorized locks (which you have) (Fig 22.1) and 3 amp for the earlier solenoid type (Fig 21.1)
(I must say that 3 amp sounds low for the the solenoid system but that's a different conversation)
Don't forget the difference in fuse ratings if you're using USA fuses

Thank you! I swapped in an AGC 7.5, since that seems closest to the Lucas 15/8 continuous. I did not know about the USA difference, so thank you for sharing!
I seem to remember reading that the original function locked the boot lid, but did not unlock it. Is that correct? Mine appears to do both, so perhaps has been modified?

Jose, that is true…the trunk does not have to be opened every time the doors are opened, but I think you are being too generous here regarding Jaguar’s thinking. The electric mechanism at the trunk lock does function for lock and unlock each time the doors are locked and unlocked. It is just that a 1cent piece is not fitted to the sliding bar to make the unlocking happen. It is a 3 minute job to make the solenoid or motor unlock the trunk as its shaft moves…the shaft is moving anyway. So nothing is saved except the penny or two by not having the unlock function fully, so why they did not make this happen is another example of delightful Brit-think. Other examples on various models: not having the glove box light come on unless the other instruments are illuminated…or the utterly useless rheostat for the dash lights in the Series III cars. The lights range from DIM to INVISIBLE.
