That looks a 'tad' untidy Motor but at least you can easily see your ignition switch now!!!

Hey mate we will laugh with you, but not at you (we don't do that around here).

Why not take this opportunity to label the wires and formulate your own wiring schematic as you go along. It will not only help you with the elimination proccess but will help burn the thing into your brain.

Just take it step by step, use some different coloured insulation tape, to bundle each system's wires together and make a note on your schematic.

Apart from the fact that it is not the most comfortable place to be working, it can actually be quite a pleasant job and you do have the opportunity to replace 30 odd year old wires.

You won't get it all done in one hit, so make regular progress notes as you go, such that if you have to leave it for a few days at least you will know where to begin again.
