86 SIII. How to depressurize fuel sys

Opening gas caps as some say does not do it

Disconnect the electrical to the fuel pump and start it up!

yes like George says, or disconnect the electrical wiring plug going to the Inertia Fuel Cutoff switch like the Service Manual says.

Thanks lads. A bit of a panic after rebuilding fuel sys and couple leaks. Just gotta crank down on those buggers

the idea is to starve the engine of fuel with engine running, either by disconnecting the fuel.pump or the IFCS.

myself I prefer pulling the plug on the IFCS.

I did it once to replace a tank.
Re-pressurizing the system was a p.i.t.a. Took a while to restart the engine.
