Engine cooling problem RESOLVED
So, I woke up this morning to take my radiator to get it re-cored. When I removed the lower hose where it is attached to the pipe that has the tranny cooling hoses, I saw a lot of crud coming out. I guess all of the heavy stuff got pumped to the bottom and stayed there. I decided that before I spent any money I would try flushing the system myself. The engine block and heater were very clean so I figured that I would flush out the radiator. I laid the radiator flat on the ground and poured some Muriatic acid mixed 3:1. I agitated it for about five minutes then I flushed it out with water. It flowed out black so I flushed it until it ran clear. I made two adapters and filled the radiator with water and applied about 15 psi of air pressure to the radiator then popped the valve at the bottom of the radiator to force any additional crud that may have stayed in the radiator. Installed radiator and ran the car for about half hour. Temperature stayed at 190-195 F which is about 90C. I am a very happy camper now.
Cost: 1 quart Muriatic acid + Had that with my pool supplies
Time spent + Priceless
