Whats the saying??? work smarter not harder!!! Its good advice! i didnt think to pull the plugs when i did it, but all i needed to do was see if engine moved! crank maybe moved an inch, but was all i needed to see!! still, would have been easier sans plugs!!!!

It's a good idea to rotate the engine (in the correct direction) for at least one turn or two by hand before trying it on the starter.
If you've got an endoscope have a look inside the bores, you can buy them quite cheaply on ebay either stand alone ones or ones that plug in to your laptop via usb.
Take the rocker cover off and check for rust and gunge in there as well.
Sounds positive so far though!!

Congratzzz
If all else fails, pull the motor / trans / fuel tank / radiator / A/C coils and sell them on E-bay and Amazon.
I imagine the engine parts individually would put some change in your pocket.
Now, Phase II
Install electric motor / controller and battery array.
Then cruise around in an all electric Jag.
That would create a lot of attention.
Maybe even some interviews with the media.
Just a thought.................

Frozen or Not Frozen
Pull the plugs and put about two ounces of oil in each cylinder.
Let it soak in for a couple of days before you turn the motor over.
I would suggest the following formula.
Don't forget the April 2007 "Machinist's Workshop" magazine comparison test.
They arranged a subjective test of all the popular penetrants with the control being the torque required to remove the nut from a "scientifically rusted" environment.
Penetrating oil ......... Average load
None ..................... 516 pounds
WD-40 .................... 238 pounds
PB Blaster ............... 214 pounds
Liquid Wrench ............ 127 pounds
Kano Kroil ............... 106 pounds
ATF-Acetone mix............ 53 pounds
The ATF-Acetone mix was a "home brew" mix of 50 - 50 automatic transmission fluid and acetone.
Note the "home brew" was better than any commercial product.
