Front and rear shocks replacement
Greetings fellas-
I have to replace my shocks in the front and he back for my 86 xj6. Does anyone know where I can find 2 for the front and the 4 for the rear assuming that’s what I need. Im not an expert mechanic and am a little rusty in my repair skills these days. Any he,p will be greatly appreciated.

One of the big challenges ahead is getting springs from old rear shocks to new shocks. It takes a special tool to compress springs. If you are going to do it yourself, the free tools loaned from O'Reillys auto and others, do not fit smaller diameter jaguar springs well, and can be very dangerous. If you are going to have a shop do it for you, ask on first call about their ability to swap out springs.
Others may have suggestions on how to proceed.

I used on my XJ last month.
It worked very well.
I used this style on my XJS a few years back and while it worked, it scratched the paint on the shock if that's something that bothers you.

On the rear shocks be aware of, and don't lose, the upper mounting sleeve. Item #6 in the illustration below:

You'll transfer these from the old shocks onto the new.

Much simpler, almost free spring compressor for rear coil-overs. Post#62
