Front wheel bearing replacement

Front wheel bearing replacement
Hi: Do I have a disease? I ask because I am on the beach at Mrtyle Beach and I'm thinking since I am replacing the rotors and calipers, I probably should replace the inner and outer wheel bearings. I am aware that the outers slip right off. Is that the same case for the inners? Or are they pressed on? Is there a preferred brand of bearings? One that is clearly superior? Or will Orielly bearings do? I better go before I get accused of not relaxing or not being mindful.....I have to be careful as to what I type as I know there are women on this forum and I don't want to offend them. I already have trouble enough keeping one pleased. Ren

Hello, Ren,
It has been done, not in this section mind you, but the guy who did it had to work REAL hard to offend me. I can't speak for any other women who might fall by on occasion, but thank you for the thoughtfulness and consideration.
Yes, you have a disease: The Dreaded Jaguarosis, wherein you think about your Jaguar in any and all situations no matter how far removed physically the car is from you at any given time. This condition has no cure, not even a remedy. Although not Terminal in and of itself, it won't actually Kill you, you will be effected/infected for the rest of your life so you might as well make the best of it.
About your wheel bearings: If you're replacing rotors, and as you say, you have it down anyway, you might as well replace wheel bearings. The inner race isn't pressed on (not supposed to be anyway) but the outer races are pressed into the hub and must be beaten out with a brass drift or similar. In fact, there's a notch in the hub for just this purpose.
My wheel bearings in fact came from O'Reilly. They have served me well since 2015.

Best to check the stubaxle for underside wear at the same time. The inner of the outer bearing is just a light push fit and eventually wears the underside of the stubaxle thus making it impossible to set up the correct amount of play in the bearings. When I did mine, it was a real PITA getting the outer of the inner bearing off. I eventually ground it down until it was thin enough to take a clout with a cold chisel that split the outer, and then it just fell off. I replaced both stub axles because of the wear as outline above.

In USA whatever the source, the brand i is National or timken. Each good stuff.
Try Rockauto. Good service, good prices. Many parts there.
David Boger at everydayxj might even have NOS bearings
Do not mis[lace the caliper shims!!! Not a tough DIY job.
Driving out the inner and outter races can be "fun". bvut, they will come out, one way or another...
good guy. List here from time to time.
