Default Front Windscreen (windshield) Fitment

Hi Gang,

I raised this subject before but couldn’t find much info anywhere on the internet.

I have a 1975 XJC Coupe that needs a front windshield.

A used one that’s in decent shape will do fine, and right now there’s somebody on Facebook Marketplace selling one from a 1988 XJ6 Sedan.

I found a site in Australia that sells brand new front windshields for my car, but they don’t ship to the US.

The ad for their windshield says that it fits everything from a 1975 up to a 1991

Here’s the link: https://www.autoglasswarehouse.com.a...pe-convertible

Please feel free to chime in to let me know if this is true, thanks in advance……

If you have a Safelite Autoglass in your area, I would give them a call.

I do, are you referencing them because they would have the answer, or are you referencing them as a source to purchase a new front windscreen?

Honestly, if I can save myself a few hundred bucks by buying a perfectly good used one with no nicks or scratches I'd rather do that.

I just need to know if a windshield from an 88 will fit a 75.......

I very much doubt that a Series 3 windscreen will fit a Series 2, because the restyle for the Series 3 gave more slope to the windscreen and I believe made it deeper, top to bottom. Just go and look at the two cars side by side.

I wound up calling SNG Barratt in New Hampshire and they set me straight.
The only front windshield that will fit my 75 coupe will have to come from another series II up to the year 1978
