Fuel inertia switch problems

What kind of problems can a fuel inertia switch cause in a xj6 series 3? Not too sure how it works and what kind of problems it can cause if bad

It makes or breaks continuity to the fuel pump system.
They are usually not a problem, unless you hit something hard.
Wiring can become loose or corroded, possibly.
