Hood hinge issues
Hi all,
In trying to help my Dad fix a hood alignment problem on hi 83 xj6, I discovered the drivers side hinge attachment point of the hood is kind of ripped out. The bolts will grab, be when the tension of closing the hood increase, the bolts pop out some and change the angle of the hood slightly. It looks to me like there's some rust on the hood riight at the mounting point. Is this common? Any suggestions for repair? Thanks,

Well, my first thought was that it was the threads also, so I cheated and forced in a slightly larger bolt (I know. . . but there's almost no room for a tap in that space). Anyway, I got the bolt in good and tight and figured I had solved it, then closed the hood and had the same problem.
I assuming what I'm threading into in the hood is a captured nut. What I actually think is happening is that the rusted sheet metal around the nut has actually torn out. I guess removing the hood is in our future. Thanks,
