How do you drive or build your car (year, sedan or coup, vehicle application)
Just trying to figure out the owner pool on this forum.
I currently do not own a jaguar (sitting on the fence) but might just pull the trigger.
This is my first post, and pretty much sums up my intentions.

2003 XJ6 Sport 3 litre (X350 in aluminium), Jaguar Racing Green, Ivory Leather.
Well, today we had a little pootle around country roads and lanes in Cheshire, Staffordshire, and Shropshire, incl a visit to the wife's favourite village, Much Wenlock (look it up, guys !). A very nice pint of Mild was drunk in the George & Dragon (low alcohol as I'm driving).
Previous Jaguars: -
1967 Mark 2 2.4 litre - rebuild 1981-1987, sold 1988.
1980 XJ 6 4.2 - 1988-2002 with much rebuilding in between.

The X300 3.2ltr (big block haha) is NOW the daily driver. Owned it just 1 year, just on 20k kms added to the total kms.
The XJ-S, is now HER car, was the daily driver since 1996 till 2009. twice round Australia (bloody long way), look it up, do the maths.
Previous Jags since 1968 in "forgotten order":
MK7M fantastic car, if only it had brakes that worked.
E Type hated it, sold it on with profit.
MK10 3.8ltr (was her shopping car), awesome in the carparks.
S Type 3.4 Auto, went everywhere, many girlfriends from memory.
S2 Damler 4,2ltr replaced the MK10.
S2 XJ12 EFI fan bloody tastic car, moving it on was a sad day.
S3 4.2 Sov 1984, hated it, no more S3's.
S2 XJ6, took over by the daughter.
XJ40 Sov, 3.6ltr, replaced the S2 for the daughter.
Probably forgot one or two, but that is of no consequence.
Had a BMW 740iL, just to be non-Jaguar for some stupid reason, mongrel car, lasted 10 weeks, never again.
Looking at a X308R to replace the XJ-S MAYBE.

its the engine from Toyota's luxury car "THE ARISTO"
2JZ's are capable of well over 600 RWHP & 450 Torque on a factor bottom end, while still getting near 30 miles per gallon.

I'm about to pick up a 1970 Series 1 XJ6 with a 350 Chev in it.
I'll be using it every day, driving it everywhere. I am currently driving a modified Datsun 260Z that I've owned for 15 years, driven every day.
I firmly believe that cars are for driving. How else am I going to enjoy owning one?

When i first got my jag, it was total crap!, everything needed fixing, dash had been chopped up, carpet was gone, seats were shredded, you name it, it needed it!!! so once i had it all fixed up, all i did was rub it with a diaper and enter it in shows.. you would be shocked at how dull that gets! So i took a chance and entered it in a jcna slalom! best time was 49.48 not bad for a beast of its size, from then on, i drove it all over!! Jags handle like a dream when all the bugs are sorted!! you can see my slalom video on the sights and sounds page! Now however, from all the daily driving not being garaged, she is looking a little sad, only paint wise though, she runs like a top and i have no qualms in getting in, turning the key and driving anywhere!!!!! I have been let down one time only and had to call a tow truck, but that was a massive trans failure! These cars love to be driven, the more you drive them , the better they get!!!!

My first Jag was a black 1990 XJ40, which I painted a house to get. Unfortunately a year after that I was driving on the freeway in the winter and the roads were quite slushy. I slammed on my brakes because traffic came to a sudden stop (thank god for ABS!), but the guy behind me didnt even touch his brakes. His Camry was doing 70mph when it came in contact with the back of my car and the result wasnt pretty. Had to kick the windshield out to get out because the body metal was so twisted the doors were stuck.
Insurance paid out and I bought another XJ40 (a 1994) which was absolutely MINT. Stupidly I sold that car to buy a new Honda because gas at the time didnt make it a practical car anymore.
Still have the Honda, but 6 months ago I bought a series 3 Vanden Plas to restore and have as a second car. Paid all of $600 for it (Im sure your imaginations can explain the condition of the car) and it is my restoration project now. Its halfway sanded and primed, all the rust holes in the floor are fixed and its coming along quite nicely!

i agree, there is something special about driving a JAGUAR(especially a V12), hard to explain, but something nice.
the ride , the smoothness, the ease of control, and in open top a feelin of FREEDOM, equates to EGO expansion, and increases of testoserone.
oops, im gettin carried away.
i donno, just plain cool.

1980 XJ, Chevy 350 conversion. Daily driver. Put 6000 miles on it in the last 3 months, bringing the total to 36000(!).
Anyway, I am not hesitant to drive it anywhere, although, admittedly, just ordered a set of front brake pads and rotors because the originals are crumbling and a car this heavy, with ~400hp needs good brakes. Going to replace the bearings and seals at the same time just to be safe.
People often think I am crazy for using a 30 year old British car as a daily driver, and I reply "they did it 30 years ago".
The Chevy conversion was done by a previous owner with a 283 that had a rod knock. I replaced it with the 350.
I just can't figure out why anyone would convert these cars using n engine that leaks more oil than the original.

1985 Jaguar XJ6 VandenPlas Sage Green / Ivory (?) interior
I generally just drive mine once or twice a month. I used to drive it a lot more, but we had a baby and I'm not too sure the car would be safe enough for her to ride in. Plus, sometimes there's a smell that comes into the cabin, which forces me to drive with the windows and sunroof open at all times. The heat works, though, and I'll be driving it to golf on Friday morning.
I did cruise Woodward in it this year during the big cruise. Only a mile or so because of all of the traffic.
It's a cruiser, and that's about it. Good luck with your purchase!
