How to remove air flow meter black cap

Glued.
Those I needed to remove, wide blade screwdriver, VERY BLOODY CAREFULLY, and work around the edges. Sadly, damage can and will take place on those edges, but with care, they be minor and can be dressed out later.
I have cracked a few, too much haste.
Heat would be good, but it lives in HEAT, so take care not to melt the thing.

I had to have the top off the AFM on my 1980 some time in the mid-90s when I got the dreaded engine cut-out syndrome. At the time the reason was not well documented, so it took a long time to bottom it out. The reason was the pair of very small contacts inside the AFM that close when the engine starts, and maintain volts to the fuel pump relay. Over time the springiness of the blades reduces and one has to basically rebend them to make better contact and at the same time clean the contacts. So the top of the AFM had to come off.
As I recall, I removed the AFM to make it easier to release the top, and could then cut away the glue and gradually levered off the cover. You have to be very gentle as they don't make the covers anymore !! I forget what glue I used to replace the top with, sorry !
