Default Installing GM fan motors in a '71 XJ

I have the first year of Jaguar that had the AC installed in the front of the car. The air flow is anemic to say the least (like the speed of the wipers but that is next quest).

So far I have the drivers side fan motor (240-195) installed and the air flow increase is about 36% more in MPH... 7 MPH to start with and 11 MPH now. This is measured with a cool digital anemometer. The vent temps on the side vents are 39F with ambient air temp of 75F and that is sitting still in a garage. The picture below shows the first fan installed with a non Jaguar relay on the upper left side due to my Lucas relay getting too hot over the many years of use... the White wire is the add on piece that goes to the Green Jaguar power wire that got hard from the heat over the years. I replace the Jaguar relays with modern relays easily obtained. The other black box is a control for the 200R trans.

The second fan motor has been ordered (244-167 and Delco# 15-80386) and will arrive soon and I will finish up the installation and report on the wind speed changes. I have included all the part numbers needed for the fans and they cost about $75.00 each.. you use the Jag mounting rings and Jaguar relay and wiring.

Biggest problem is creating a silicone "gasket" that is the proper thickness... I have used metal directional fan cages from FASCO that bolt right onto the 5/16" fan shafts but are thicker/longer than the Jaguar non directional plastic cages.. hence the need to shim them out from the firewall. Jaguar shafts are only 1/4 inch but you could carefully enlarge the holes but there is no easy way to retain them onto the shafts except the stock Jaguar press on clips = no set screws.

My car has a SBC V8 and Sanden AC compressor, modern multi pass condenser and added dual center vents (hoses come from the bottom of the evaporator and the RH hose for the rear passengers). Those hoses that come from the bottom of the evaporator have even faster wind speeds of 13 MPH and colder vent temps.
