Default Instrument bulbs

I struggle to see my instruments and wonder if it's possible to replace the bulbs in them with LEDs to make them brighter? I tried to take a photo to show how bad they were but my phone has done some trickery and they look really good in the pictures
I tried searching the forum but only found a guide on how to change the bulbs, not which type of bulbs I'd require. I'm guessing an LED bulb could be used in the OptiCell bit too as they don't generate as much heat as a filament bulb... do they?

If I do replace them with LEDs would the brightness dial still work to control brightness? I'd rather struggle to see them than have glaringly bright lights in them.

If anyone has done this, has advice or if there's a guide on here with the details could you point me in the right direction, thanks.

others have already replaced incandescent bulbs with LEDs.

I don't know if the dimmer works or not with LEDs. Also I don't think the LEDs blink or flash with the Turn Signal indicators without adding a relay or something like that.

I fixed the opticell brightness with an array of 7 LEDs mounted on a board inside the opticell housing, it was done for me by Mike Eck of Jaguar Clock. But he said he would not build others. Since the opticell is not wired into the dimmer, there are no issues.

Do a search here for LED Dash bulbs to read the other posts on the subject.

Here is a long series of posts from a while back LED conversion

I changed out my turn signal indicator lights to LED and I can now see them easily in bright daylight. Had to remove a diode (detailed in the above link). Also, our cars came with an indicator light for burned out light bulbs. When you convert to LEDs that causes the burned out bulb indicator to come on. I check for burned out bulbs the old fashioned way by walking around the car so I just removed the bulb from the warning light.

Thanks for the replies, while googling some more I found someone who'd changed out the bulbs for LEDs and listed what they were called. I've searched threads, posts and tried googling but I cannot find the post again, and it was on this forum! If I do find it I'll link to that post for future reference.

I put a 5-element LED in my OptiCell and it made Such a difference.

I can even read my headlight switch labels now.
