Interesting 1971 series 1 for sale in LA
In case anyone is interested, there is an interesting 1971 series 1 for sale in the LA area. Here is the link. 1971 Jaguar XJ6
Bodywork looks great (been repainted), interior and engine look well worn but only showing 12k miles on the odometer. Be sure to look towards the end of the photo gallery at the cool original documentation from when the first owner shipped it from the UK to the US. Interestingly they shipped it into the port of Los Angeles which is in San Pedro and that is where the car is now.

I ask because in 1976 if you got to 99 999 miles it simply started over at 00 000 00.
So my very First question is, How many times has it been around, seeing as the interior is "well worn"??

I agree Elenor. Did you see the brake pedal with the rubber pad completely missing? If this car was owned by caring folks, what happened to the interior? Any time I see a car like this my mind says what is that shiny paint job hiding? Yet .... as mentioned above, seems to have good documentation. Very confusing.

This car has clearly gone 112,000 miles or more (and yes, the odometers had only 5 digits in those days...cars didn't last as long as they do now). The driver's seat bolster has been replaced on the door side, and more tellingly, the driver's door armrest pad has been (badly) replaced...this must be the only or one of the only XJ cars in North America without electric windows (which were standard on all Canada and US-market XJ cars).

Gregory...
Seats are the first thing I noticed.. It mentioned replacement seats, I think... Wouldn't the XJ6 have narrow pleated seats, the XJ12 have the wide pleats?
And on the rear seat, the first pleat is extremely wide, showing a bad replacement job...
