Interesting Series 3

Nice to see a series 3 sedan getting some resto-mod respect. The celebrity commission surely will introduce this car to a new demographic and perhaps interest will increase.

Cool. I give credit that they didn't go overboard.
I really like the bumper treatments as well as the color-coordinated under-dash panels. And the interior leather/trim work looks very nice.
On the other hand, the wheels look 'gangsta' to my eyes and the steering wheel is all wrong !
Cheers

wow the steering wheel sucks big time!! and I am not one for pimped wheels but I have to say, the wheels look great, but with such short sidewalls, the ride must be hard like a Flinstones car. I'll stick with my XJ40 Teardrops thank you.
the front bumper just looks like a transplant from a modern XJ-6.
overall, nice work, but it looks pimped.

Yes, Jose, I like my teardrop rims.
I was also thinking, here's just another guy with loads of money throwing buckets of it at his car, hiring everything done rather than doing it himself. I have a lot more respect for those who at least try it on their own.

Thank you for the (indirect) compliments Elinor, I also admire that you do your own work yourself. Today I met with a member of this forum, a gentleman from UK and his wife, and showed them all my mods to the XJ-6, he came to pick up the tank panel plugs that you already have. Except he shows up in a fabulous BMW M236i Coupe'. He was interested in the Blinking Sidelights mod, and his wife loved the "Christmas Tree" effect. Also the combination Fog Lights / Driving Lights which I bought at Walmart years ago, they still work! I also showed them all the lighting combinations of the European Headlights Switch. Super nice people.

It had never occurred to me that there is such a thing as an "over pimped pimpmobile" but there is .. Series 2 door handles ??? totally idiotic ..change for the sake of change, an excellent example of "more is less"
A God awful concoction of parts. Look at the paint - heavy purple metalflake .. hideous,.. What happened to the burl wood ???
..take it to the crusher..

The steering wheel and shifter really look phoned in. Some of the parts are just weird, the pedals, shifter, steering wheel, and headlights all look like generic eBay parts.
I don't think those bumpers are color matched, they are just black and the car is blackish. You can tell in the pics they aren't as reflective as nearby body parts.I dont take issue with the number of spokes so much as the wheel size. The sidewall is just too thin, it's not a sports car.The interior is pretty nice for the most part though, the black suede looks good and I'm really surprised at how well they integrated that GPS display.
Altogether really shows off the idea an old car can be redone to make it as good as a new one in many facets.

Wow, I'm surprised with all the criticism. I think you have to look at the car as a whole and for me it works as a package. Sure... there are things I'd like and dont like but as a whole, it's a great package.
As a custom car with celebrity and international exposure it's significant. It was 1 of 10 classic cars at the Geneva motor show so it REALLY raises the profile of the cars we love. It blends 4 decades of Jaguar parts into a cohesive look, and therefore is respectful of the brand. It's a sedan. Very Very Rare for a classic sedan to get this kind of exposure, That's a really good thing.

Given the car was actually created by Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works in Coventry/ Jaguar Design studio director Wayne Burgess I think it is a bit of a dog's dinner. I'm all for people building hot rods based on their personal taste and the show car circuit, but this is a Jaguar official vehicle. I'm assuming it is a marketing exercise to appeal to the demographic who like iron maiden and have some money in the bank...
My old friend Derek Ridgers created Iron Maiden's visual imagery including the 'eddie the 'ed' logo seen here. He got ripped off by Maiden so a double negative vote from me on this one...

I like it. The wheels look nice but will ride rough, a compromise made for fashion. The integrated bumpers just go to show that Jaguar was right with the X300. Ian also put those type of bumpers on his car. There's a lot of fabbed special little bits but the profile remains original, and the stance is very good. The Series three always was a great looking car. If the car raises the flag for our sedans, so much the better.

There are a couple of great resto mod classic Jaguar MKII as well as my 1963 3.8s that I think show what can be done both as a combination of DIY and using custom shops that I think take it further yet within a more of cost a normal person could afford.
Here are few pics of my 3.8s which has a GM V8 aluminum block that is incredibly quiet, smooth, reliable, good mileage, over 400 HP, and lighter than the stock Jag 6. It will do 0 to 60 between 3.9 to 4.05 seconds, the ride is very smooth not harsh at all, and incredibly reliable. I have put over 60,000 miles in the first two years after the build. It has all of the modern tech such as: computer controlled V8 so you just turn the key and never worry about a choke, four wheel disc brakes with Wilwood brakes in front and larger E-type discs in the rear, coil overs front and back with custom front A-arms, power steering, the car keeps stock shifter, LED lighting, Jaguar Vaden Plas electric seats front/rear, modern fuse box, custom stereo with JL Audio subs hidden with Focal separates front/rear also hidden, back up camera, blue tooth/wifi, Air conditioning, 3000 watt pure sine wave inverter going to two AGM golf cart batteries in addition to a separate starting battery, the inverter powers a refrigerator-full network color lazar jet, wifi, there is a removable mast RAM mount for my laptop, with AC outlets, 4 USB chargers, binding machine in the trunk for work, and the rear trunk floor is on ball bearing rollers so you do not need to bend over to get a cold drink from the refrigerator. Those are some of the main features as it is hard to remember everything.
The cool thing is this restomod like Doug's MKII in the classic sedan forum, is that the car looks pretty stock from appearance. Yes my car has custom three piece billet wheels with 245 wide 17" rims on all four corners with no flares, but aside from that it looks like it could have came that way from Jaguar and it keeps the luxury ride and feel yet is so much fun to drive daily for work.
