Default Interior Cleaning Daimler XJ6 series 2

Gents,

I'm just about to put the interior back in my XJ6 after a full restoration, it has new headlining & trims, carpets, seats, door cards, lacquered dash etc,
what's letting it down is the original vinyl/ leatherette on the back parcel shelf and top dash. any recommendations for a UK product to clean it and bring it back to life, they have been sitting in the loft of my garage for 3 years collecting dust and not cleaned for 20 years previous to that.

thanks

Fingers

"Decasol" comes to mind. A long time ago I used it on the vinyl of an Austin 1100. It came in a bottle then, now its an aerosol.

why not just buy a yard an a half of new vinyl and replace it ? Trying to restore old dried vinyl is a waste of time. It never looks fresh.

try John Skinner Ltd. for the correct material.

When I was doing the interior of my 356 I "temporarily" sprayed the vinyl door panels and seats with black vinyl spray just to freshen it up before I got the chance to replace everything with new. I recovered the seats and dash top a few month later but never bothered to replace the door panels. That was 20 years ago. They still look the same as the day I sprayed them.

You have to experiment with how to spray the final coat to get it to match the sheen of the rest of the interior vinyl but it wasn't hard at all. You can't tell it's painted. Of course you still have to properly clean and prep the vinyl first.

I plan on spraying the door panels of the Jag in the spring to match the newly upholstered seats because they're a different shade of blue from the originals.

Hi all, thanks for the advice
as an update I found some Autoglym leather cleaner spray today on the shelf, it worked a treat on cleaning the very soiled vinyl, I will see what it looks like over the next few days to see if it stays as fresh as it looks now.
