Default XJ6 Series One SWB

All my life I have had Jaguars

MKII, XK150, XJ6, and I even built a jaguar replica based on XJ6
These days in California I am looking to buy the following

XJ6 Series One SWB 4.2
Colour not important, Interior not important mileage not important
Must be running as an every day runner
No blue smoke or Chevy transplants
Oil pressure 40lb + when hot essential
Price negotiable
Must be in southern California to be able to view

Let me know if you have anything that may be fitting the description

Default Update

A very nice gentleman from Virginia got in touch with a very nice Jaguar

I could not believe how nice he was and how nice his car was

We are still talking and perhaps I may end up with his car
Who knows

He saw my request here in this forums

It proves there are a bunch of nice lads here

Nice experience. Even if he sells his car locally it was a nice experience meeting him

PS I don't say that very often

I think you've set the bar a bit high there. There can't be many of the spec of car you describe left in the whole world now, let alone Southern California.

Thank you for your input

59000 (almost) were made in Aus, Nz, UK.

Most UK production came to the USA

I have already seen a few the price has been slightly higher than expected to pay

I am prepared to give it a shot

Once again thanks for your input

None of the attempts so far have been fruitful

Some people put the cars in auction to gauge response and at the 11th hour pull it out of the auction.

That has happened twice.

Some people put a reserve of double digit to see if it can be reached . So far 8000 has been the best price offered and been refused for a 22Km car of 1970 vintage

There are some scams also. This guy with a name that couldn't be more English Jeff Higgins with an Email which screams Nigerian pretending is from London tries to tell me he had the goods would I pay him cash? Amusing! wouldn't you say so?

I have found that the BEST U.S. Series I XJ6 was the 1972 MY (I had one). It had the A6 compressor (instead of the piston YORK for the 1971 and earlier) for the climate control and the last of the LESS complex CD175 Stromberg intake manifold setup. The 1973 had some sort of EGR and Vacuum pipe nightmare intake manifold to deal with. I miss my '72 but life goes on...........

Hello Bob

There is no shortage of cars for sale in auctions
The trouble is many bring their cars out without the intention of selling only to find out what market value is. They take it out of auction prior to the closing hour.

I have had three cats get away like that

Hi guys
I have been offered so many *******ized cars it is unbelievable. Very nice looking outsides but Chevy horrors inside. With a bit of care those jaguar engines go for ever
Any way I am still looking
I have put my feelers out for an XJC and will see what transpires

There was this XJ6 1973 with 15Kmiles on it. No reserve on it I go and bid for it 2 minutes before the auction ends he pulls it out and re-lists it with a huge reserve
Like I said to the guy I want it but not as bad as that

I forgot to say
This one very nice interior everything right , a desert car I go 300 miles to see it

Guess what he just conveniently forgot to tell me that it was Chevyised. He was hoping he can sweet talk me. Within 5 minutes I left the area. Had I stayed I may have resorted to violence. Cost me best part of the day as well as fuel to get there and back
