It was finished. In fact, it was my daily driver. Not good looking, but technically fine.
untill I lent it to somebody who damaged the radiator and front of the car on his weddingday...
I fixed that again (as a matter of fact, I started it yesterday for the first time since the crash in May and it ran beautiful).
But as my situation has changed, I now have the place and means to restore the bodywork as well. (I got a job, whereas I was student when I started. With the job came the money etc...)
Anyway, I am outta here. I dont feel very welcome.

Not sure where that came from Wilfred, we all look forward to your input and updates on your project.
It takes a brave man to build that car in a barn, now you have a really cool work space I for one want to see your work.

Always nice to hear compliments from others, especially when they are not car guys.
Although it does seem like you're all a bit biased... Of course, my series 1 drives great. But so did my citroen DS from 1973. In fact, that was even more comfortable due to the hydraulic self leveling suspension system.
It did not corner as hard, but on the highway it beats the jag anytime.
And the mercedes w126... what a terrific car. Regarding comfort it can compete with the xj6. Regarding build quality it is so much better than a contemporarty jaguar.

Come on, Wilf, if you can dish it out you must also......
I've had a Citroen ID, great car, comfort as no other, but on a long highway trip? No match for the series. Not enough power, speeds over 110 kph (70 mph) very noisy.
Them Benzes may be put together like no other car, but I wish they hadn't done that. They're so darned ugly I want to see as little as possible of them. They should all be at the scrapheap by now!
I used to drive my Series 2 4.2 up and down Denmark every other week late seventies, very, very sleek ride, no car could match it then. Fellow fisherman drove Benzes, Transams, a Corvette, no match, passengers wanted to ride with? Yeah, right.
