Just wanted to share little frustration. Took the Coupe out for a ride, it was bucking and backfiring so took it straight home. Turned it off and never got it started again. Opened the hood, could smell gas, took off the air cleaner cover and gas literaly poured out. Unmistakeable sign of a stuck (open) needle valve. Turned the key on gas started pouring from the front carb. Removed the front carb took the bowl off, filled with jellied gas.. This is what happens with ethanol added to the fuel. Since ethanol is hygroscopic, any moisture in your fuel gets sucked up into the ethanol and combines with it.. enough moisture and the ethanol separates from the gas it was blended with and falls to the bottom of the float bowl. Rebuilt these carbs 3 yrs ago, so what you see is the buildup of little globs of jelly bit by bit over 3 yrs time... looks like i'll be taking off the rear carb also... clean em up, replace the gaskets, needles, and seats and hopefully they will last another 3 yrs.
I've never had that happen although I've heard all the horror stories about ethanol in modern gas.
Maybe all my stuff has ethanol resistant parts.....

Rebuilt 3 yrs ago with ethanol resistant parts including nitrophyl floats... they wont stop humidity from getting into the float bowl since it is vented to the atmosphere.
