Check your heater control valve. Make sure it is not stuck closed. It's a fairly common problem. We carry an all metal and a plastic one. I'm not a big fan of the plastic unit. See the link below.

Im starting to get everything fixed, and i was wondering. Are their any performace parts for an 86' Xj6? Ive searching on the internet but i come up empty handed. I was looking for performace exhuast and cams, but it looks to me like no one makes them. If anyone knows of any body or places that sell parts pleas let me know

After you fix your leak, make sure your heater control valve is working. Its located on the firewall, has heater hoses leading to and from it. Metal, bell shaped. Its normally open, to allow heat. When vacuum is applied, it will close, as when using your AC. Once this is working, if you still have the irratic behaviour, I'd suspect your AC amplifier. Its located under your dash, drivers side, at the front of your console. Your service manuel will tell you what to look for in testing, but if you need a new one, I bought one from Caufield Jag, in Australia. They sell a better replacement than the original, at about half of what anyone here in the US sells them for. Only took 3 days for delivery also. You don't even have to take the original amp out, just unplug the wires, plug into the new one, and set back and enjoy your, like new, AC and heat. Keith.
