For those not reading my tach thread, i have sorted all but one issue, i have a code 97, vss output curcuit, the problem iant between vss amd pcm, its between pcm and speedo, using laptop hooked up to aldl i can see everything going on, and can watch vehicle speed on it as well, so i know vss is working.. following other threads on swap aites i have read that i may need a 1k ohm resistor with a 12 volt source tied to thw speedo wire and it will clear code, but it isn't telling me how to make speedo work after doing that.. more reading to go!!
for what little i have driven, the difference between the two engines is night and day! She pulls like a freight train! Well, sort of havent gone past 1/4 throttle as each wheel is missing a lug jut and 4th only has 3!, so only going around block, i have new lug nuts but they are.for the Daytons so dont fit the kents... isn't it always something????

Default Almost done!!

So close to finiahing this project... i have ordered the Dakota digital sgi 5e which is supposed to fix the speedometer and take care of my code 97, tires are ordered, amd will be here on Thursday, so i can install the wire wheels with 5 nuts per wheel!! then shes off to exhaust shop, for a real.exhUst, im currently.running the downpipes, connected to flex pipe back to the H pipe followed by the twin turbo mufflers, so shes driveable. All that will leave will be getting ac lines made up, which i have found a place 10 minutes from my house that does it....
its been a fun adventure! Would have no qualms doing it again, other than maybe having a helper next rime around!!!

Clean, shiny and sparkling wires!!!!! OK!!!

Exhaust.

Must you install cats? Are emission issues tough in FLA? If so, I recall that your "package" is Camaro inspired. Two into one exhaust?? Or some after cat split for two pipes??

If not, the sky is the limit. I had a lower limit than the sky. The Cadillac donor feature true dual exhaust. Hence I got through. My muffler shop built a sytem to bridge the space between the Suncoast sourced down pipes ad the Jaguar mufflers. Two cats and an "H" pipe. The PO had installed small glass packs as resonators. It sounds great. Just right. Not raspy or back raps, just a nice V8 purr.

Great job, Daren!!

Carl,
no cats needed in Florida. Darren wants to go straight under the cage to avoid the curved pipes over the axle.

I am sure the inspections corporation is trying hard to buy politicians to impose inspections in Florida. It would be very profitable with over 23 million NEW cars.

Yup, no cats, currently running the suncoast downpipes, with 3 ft if flex from each side to an H pipe just after transmission, then about 2 ft of pipe back to cherry bomb turbo mufflers, right now, that's it! Enough to make car mobile without angering neighbors... its all 2.25, and like Jose said muffler shop will run pipes under the cage and then up into old resonator area and straight back, may have them put the turbo mufflers back in that that area if they will fit... havent looked yet..

so gave her a real bath, not just a wipe down, and cleaned up the garage so now 2 cars fit again.. wife is happy!

Not much choice, but to wait!!!

Sure looks nice. Have you thought of ordering up some pipe and subbing it in for the flex and calling it a job done? I did something like that on my past T roadster hot rod. As it was on an A chassis, I ordered up a pair of A tail pipes. Tubing to the headers and twin straight pipes. The warmed up flat head V8 was a bit moisy, but as log as I was easy on the pedal,. not all that much. hard to do thjat, albeit!!!

Gee, perhaps the SNOG shop will be closed. And DMV is!!! The jeep is up for SMOG this year.

Getting the Jag passed last year was a chore… Issue as to whether my working cats were CA certified!!!

Default A/c lines

Today i picked up the new ac lines, 149 bucks at pirtex! Fat one connects low side hose thats part of a manifold on back of compressor to explansion block, and skinny one goes from the gm factory accumulator back to expansion block, will post pics once installed, might be a few days, depending on work load..

Its been a while since i posted in thia subject, so thought i would wrap it up...
Car is up and running, driving, shifting, etc everything it is supposed to do. Even the ac is is working... ( whilst i had dash apart i removed and cleaned the switches on the knobs)
I am now going back and tightening loose ends so to speak, i have moved the pcm to the firewall, and replaced the connectors that plug into it ( i had two that had the tabs snapped off so harness was held plugged in with zip ties).
I have also now gotten new power steering hoses made up, as no matter how hard I tried i could not stop the leak at the splice even though it was compression fitting ( which by the way, was a boat load of sanding just to get the jag hard line down to 3/8, or 5/16, cant remember now..)
i knew it was temporary at best, just to get car up and running and check everything out.
I am also now awaiting a new rack ( well, rebuilt) as of course the leak moved ... lol its now coming out of tower and both boots!! Other than that shes wrapped.
oh im also fiddling about in the tune, the hotcam tune i got had idle too high for me, 900 rpms in drive, brought it down to 700 and shes much better, now im into shift points, the tune had them all up high to keep motor in its power band, i have dropped them to about middle.of stock and cam tune, for cruising mode, but kickdown and manual mode i have left them high along with the line pressure.
It's been and adventure for sure, but i am.finally happy with the result!
