Default Little victories are the best ones

Okay, a year into my stewardship of this '74 XJ6, and a winter of inaction on my part, I clocked off the wonky rear carb and tried to start the old gal on the front one alone... and by gum it WORKED.... it really WORKED! For what is probably the first time in nearly twenty years, the engine stumbled into life and settled into a steady-ish rhythm of clacking valves and whirring chains... I watched and listened as she purred and rumbled and enjoyed every minute.... I'll be removing those carbs and going through them again, get that rear carb sorted, and look for more potential victories to come.... BY GUM, SHE RUNS!

Absolutely! I was so frustrated at one point I had the car on Craigslist... with the weather warmer (okay, HOT) now I can work more comfortably on it. Thanks for your assistance, wisdom and moral support!

The FAITH is alive once more.

They really are simple cars.

Carby pistons jammed in the bellchambers is the most common issue with those SU's.

Tis the small victories that spur one on to take on bigger stuff.

Often, when stumped by a "biggie" taking on and winning a small one
gets one going.

Still wrestling with "why no sound on either of my two Dells !!!

Small defeat. I'm ear challenged. Watching ball game yesterday.
Aide in left ear getting "scratchy", then out.... Usual stuff flunked, still duff.

OK, it is my older "backup". I've a pair, I think that are older and a pair that is younger.

Trouble is that the newest is incomplete. Fancy techie thing.
Right one at the factory for a "fix".

Popped in left. It misses it's right mate, but works...

None in ears now. not needed... Later, yeah...

Well, not needed for yard work, if the F's come up a bit...

At least, the Jaguar is purring...

Carl
