Looking for a Series 1 ?
I live in the Boise, Idaho area and have been driving by this car for the last year or so. I finally saw the owner out in the yard, so quickly stopped by to check it out. I didn't check, but they thought it is a '72. They mentioned that they would like to sell it, but haven't been able to. I think they would take $2k for it.
I was in a time crunch so wasn't able to check it out in detail. The interior is full of stuff, so couldn't see all the seats, but the driver seat is in fairly good criteria. (black interior) Typical splits starting at the seams, but not completely deteriorated. Dash has typical crackled dash wood., door wood is very bleached. From what I saw, the trim elements all around are in very good condition.
No noticeable rust, no dents, but a small bubble in the paint right behind the right front wheel.
I just peeked under the hood. It has the original engine. Typical description of "ran when parked" 10 yrs ago...

I think they would take $1000. But it looks like an unusually good example to start with. You can't buy it too cheap, #1 I would add in the cost of two new fuel tanks, about $375ea. Put a plastic fuel tank for an outboard motor in the trunk and plumb it to the fuel line to get it started and see where you are, leave the primer bulb on the boat tank to prime the carbs with. I'm so glad that car isn't near me. Rust and interior are the two big factors imho. I don't readily see rust around the windscreens, that's a huge plus, that paint could possibly even clean up and buff to a respectable level, euro bumpers! and it's a short wheelbase (not an L). What a classic, I hope you get it.
