Default Manual Steering?

Is a manual rack available? Or can I just run the power steering without the pump? I don't particularly care for power steering, all of my cars have been manual...

Hi, you don't say what model?

I have no idea whether a manual rack conversion is available from somewhere (I doubt it).

No you can't sensibly run the PS without the pump, you will wreck the rack.

Plus you would need arms like King Kong (once had to manoevre a dead Jag out of a sticky spot) almost impossible to turn.

Certainly not safe to use.

You cannot compare a Ford truck to a Jag.

Default manual steering rack

a manual steering rack was specified for UK police series 2 XJ6's - quicker steering and better feedback. I know this because I have a brand new, unfitted old stock unit in my store. Got to be one of the rarest items around!

Right hand drive , I should have known. Looks brand new and to think it's for police cars! It's a treasure.

It will likely have a much lower steering ratio giving more turns lock-to-lock. You'd need to be a Sumo wrestler to turn the power rack without any power.
