Master Key for S3 1987 XJ6
Hello my Seniors,
Me again, I have 1987 Series 3 XJ6 of which I have misplaced all the keys. I know from here is a done deal to have directions to where I can find a master key to enable me move that car.
I would appreciate your kind support again if you show me where and how to acquire a Master key for the 1987 S3 XJ6
Am counting on you again.
Thanks
Mike.

Hi Mike,
By master key, you mean the ignition switch key correct ? I'm attaching a picture from the owners manual showing the different keys in case you or anyone else needs it ( think I got it here, thanks to whoever posted it originally ).
If you have the key "code number" that came with the car's paperwork, you MIGHT be able to have a locksmith make one.
If not, I would recommend removing the ignition lock cylinder / switch assembly from the steering column / dash, then remove the ignition switch from the lock. I think you can use just the switch part without the lock to crank / drive the car. Then have a locksmith make a key to fit the lock. That's what I did with one of my parts cars. I think there are several threads here showing how to remove the lock assembly. Hope this helps ! If you need pictures, let me know.
Cheers,
Brian
