Can't imagine that the compressor types could make that much difference. You didn't suck in any air into the system when you filled it did you?

I don't think so but I'm going to evacuate, vacuum, then refill and see what happens. May want to try LnrB's propane cans if that doesn't work.

LNRB,
I'm about to rebuild my AC system with new compressor, drier and expansion valve. If I use propane, do I have to change hoses and seals or enything else? Also, where do I get propane in Canada?

Ian and Bill,
The Propane I have is a different brand, bought some years ago from a company in Canada that I can no longer find on the Net. However, it seems that Enviro-Safe is a similar formula and should work as well.

As the molecular composition of Propane/Butane mixture is much larger than that of R-134 et al, there is no need for special hoses as it leaks less than even R-12. It's also compatible with all known lubricants, compressors or other hardware used in automotive refrigeration units -- so says the label on the can.

It's Always a good idea to change seals whenever one breaks into one of these systems. They aren't expensive or hard to access when it's apart anyway, and it's Very cheap insurance.

I will be changing seals as a matter of course. Many thanks for your guidance. I feel a bit more confident now, kind of like when my Mum always told me - "go on, you can do it"

Thank you, Ian, I'm glad to be an encouragement. If I can do it, Anybody can.
However. I'm Nobody's "mum!"

LnrB, I have ordered a few cans of that product. I'll let you know how I make out with it. I'm trying not to make high expectations, but we'll see. I can always go back.
