Thanks to those that pulled this off!!
Jaguar content. My car had starting issues. My son gave me a hand we found the fault. A failed wire splice! Not in the Jaguar part. But, in the GM harness.
We had a "discussion" . He advocates crimped splices. I like solder? ?
For nolw, as i could nt find tat box, it is twisted and taped. I found the box of connecors. but, I tried a pair on my grinder termonals. N go. hence, on my list to solder.
My bnch grinder has Lucas like electrical issues. I suseced first the plug. i brke. i replaced t. still no go. Thn, opened t and bridged the sewitch. here, I fu that if i touched one wire that went to the swtch togroud, it rn??? Ths can not be. Un bolted t from te bench to access the underside. next session. See what in h.. s ging on there?

You could compromise and use those fancy smanchy crimp/seal/solder do hickeys (technical term) Then everybody has had a go :-)

Welcome back Carl
Properly applied crimp splices are far better than soldered connections. They are extensively used in aviation electrics.
Soldered joints do work however the "hard" ends of the solder joint where the solder finishes are a potential source of failure especially in areas where the wire can flex.
The best way to avoid this is to apply a double coat of heat shrink tubing. ie first coat shrunk then followed by another coat.
That gives the joint some protection against flexing and ultimate failure.
Cheers
