Need to move driver's seat further back
I have a 87 Jag XJ6 Series 3. I'm 6' 2" and even with the driver's seat slid fully I'm too close to the steering wheel and my knees are almost in the dashboard.
The seat slides so far forward that the seat back is about six inches from the wheel and it seems like no human being could fit in it.
I want to know if there's a way to get the driver's seat to slide further back -- do I have to remove the seat and do something to the track?
I tried searching for this topic but didn't have any luck, if anyone here knows what to do I'd be very grateful!

Hi Patrick,
That seems strange. I too, am 6ft 2inches tall, and have no problems at all with being too close to the steering wheel. Is it possible that you have the steering wheel adjusted out to it's fully extended position? That may put you close to the wheel. I would also check that there is nothing obstructing the travel of the seat as it slides back.Otherewise I am afraid I cannot be of any other help to you.
Good luck sorting this out

I measured from the front of the adjusting pull-bar to the brake pedal in my car:
18" inches with seat at maximum to the rear.
10" inches with seat at maximum to the front.
I believe there is a way to make it go farther to the rear, it has to do with where the seat tracks are first engaged when re-installing the seat, I found this out by mistake but I can't remember what I did.
you have to pull up the sprung anchor bar in front of the seat and hold it up as you push the seat back with your foot on the brake pedal. Are you doing it like that?
