Newly acquired '84 xj6 Chevy 350 conversion project
I recently found a Johns Cars conversion Chevy 350 '84 xj6 as a new project..... I've had many varieties of Jaguars but always wanted a conversion..... Well... I found one locally and the price was right now I'm getting into it....
Runs and drives was a daily for years....but sat up the last couple years so I'm going the the carburetor....adding some old school look wheels etc....

Hi....good to hear there's more Chevy swaps around.... I'll get some pics this weekend when I'm where I keep it.....and if this hurricane Helene isn't too bad around there. I'm going through the carb now.....it's been a few (20 years) since I've torn down/rebuilt a carb, the valve covers are off for upgrade and sorting/replacing the fuel lines..... and general engine bay clean up.... Fall is here....it doesn't mean too much in the coastal SC area but it was a hot Summer....but a little cooler to work on it

Hello,
You're in some Very good company here with your Series Jaguar V8 conversion.
It's not at all like 10 or so years ago when I joined Another Jag forum with my Converted Jag, this place Welcomes anyone who wants to keep these beauties on the road.
But we all like to show off our power plants too.
Here's mine:
Olde School, First Generation 350; ca 1986 Corvette.
Welcome to our little corner of the Forums from ElinorB.

Hi..... Looks nice and tidy....factory look. I'm going for a little more 'no doubt it's custom' look....chrome valve covers, air cleaner.....etc.... and exterior hints.... I removed a custom air intake set up with tubes to the front.....kind of looked like a mock fuel injection set up cover.... Also an '86 Corvette transplant.... It was built as a driver.....a 'sleeper' but I'm changing all that.... personal preference for what I want....an aggressive looking/sounding/performing resto mod. Hurricane Helene is enroute so I won't be working on it or taking photos this weekend.....but I will 😁

Before you go ordering an expensive lowering front spring set try taking out the coil spring shim pads that are (undoubtedly) in there. Mine had some top and bottom, took them all out in february (after driving it like that for 30 years) and it sits very respectably low in front now. No need for the King springs I was about to pull the trigger on! About to re-lump mine with an LSx/t56.

Not really any updates..... I've been to Western NC for a couple days. My Sis has a few rental houses over there but up high and not directly affected but WOW is that a mess over there ....
I have the carb off and rebuilt then I decided to remove and paint the valve covers since it needed vc gaskets anyway.... Not too pretty under the hood for now....

I did drain the tanks and flushed them, with fresh fuel and cleaned the screens and got them ready for fresh fuel... Some gunk in the brass plugs but nothing crazy however probably 2 gallons per tank and prob a couple pints of water in the passenger tank (and the one the switch was set on) due to a broken gas lid latch....which I've found and ordered on eBay.... The PO had a plastic grocery bag stuffed down in there.... I just don't get why some people are so ignorant but..... Anyway ... Hopefully this week I'll get it back together and running again with improved looks under hood....
Thanks for the suspension info.... I haven't really looked at it much yet.... but I need to get the front end down....and/or the back end up....and definitely get proper size tires on the Ridler wheels....they're too bulgy and will rub the rear fender lip as is....235/55/17's are just too much.... I'll likely go with 215-50's which is close to the orig 15" overall size and better fit to the 7" wheels without the bulgy sidewalls....
I have the set of orig Kent wheels and tires if anyone wants or needs them....
I had to work on my wife's Hummer H2 yesterday and today but I did get a I little Jag work done .... The daily gets the attention first.... and now I'm just worn out
Thanks all

This weekend I got the valve covers back on.....with new gaskets and also the rebuilt carburetor and new chrome air cleaner on..... My back is killing me....so done for this weekend. Not done yet but it's looking better under the hood 😁
I did add a '95 xj6 to my stable..... a locals elderly father asked me if I was interested.... I knew his son who passed away with Cancer about 5 years ago and he just decided at 82 that he didn't need it sitting around anymore. He's a NYer and has a condo here. The Jag has always been in the South. A very nice car.....needing a harmonic balancer....it has the squeak and noise associated with that so I marked it and sure enough it's moving where the halves are laminated rubber.... He was told it needed $2k in power steering work but that's just a local shop trying to take advantage of him (as they've done for years)....the ps is 100% it mimicks a ps chirp/squeal but it's the harmonic balancer/dampener. I know of 3 '93-96 x300 xj6's locally in yards.... hopefully one is good.... Anyway....I got it for a what I feel is a great deal....I wasn't looking but I'd rather have it than the Cadillac or my old Mercedes..... He had been a bit mislead on its value....he orig thought $5-8000 but I made a fair real offer and he sold it to me.....knowing it would be well taken care of.
Til next time.... Enjoy Fall Y'all 😁
