One of those days.
Just had one, nothing in particular really needed doing. Just jacked it up on stands for the hell of it and lubed all the suspension components, gave all the nipples some grease. Rotated the tyres, made a few small brackets and fasteners that need attention.
Had the expansion tank fastener welded, and rescued the other cat again!
All in all a productive day pottering in the garage, put up some new lights over the engine bay that can be angled to suit where I am working, eliminating lead lights a lot of the time. Ahhhhh that makes a perfect day with a couple of coldies with Dr Phill after he finished work, the love affair with this cat is still strong.

Quite relaxing actually after the work marathon I've been doing. Took from 7am until 4pm to do not much at all, well needed break.

There's a lot of satisfaction gained from knocking off those small projects.
I have a really big Jag project going on but sometimes I don't have large chunks of time available to tackle the bid stuff.....so I'll often jump on a few easy-to-do bits so I'll feel as though I'm actually making progress!
Or, if I run into trouble on the big stuff I can ease a bit of the frustration by successfully knocking off some smaller projects.
Cheers

What better way to top off the day than a garage BBQ with snags, onions and pork. And a cold crownie!
Very un-Australian of me......I know, but it was raining outside.
And yes, I do have to keep my onions in their slices until cooked. Or they look messy on the BBQ.(not **** at all)

Snags? I wondered! Picture answered. Yum. I do love pork chops.
coco does as well. Great bones to gnaw on!!
Son gave me little BBQ kettle. I've got all the stuff to fire it and cook on it. Still cold out this, but we do have a respite from the El Nino induced rain storms. &0 f's promised over the week end.
Back to topics:
1. Cars are good at going up, not so much on coming down. The electric company crews rescue a lot of 'em for posts or trees.
2. Knocking off "easies" is pleasant. Float valve in toilet "loo" leaking here. Some thinking sand shopping finds a way to fix, easy style. I'll do it in a bit. Might cover up the guts on the passenger side of the Jaguar in a day or two. Task easy, access not so much anymore. I'm just going to leave the "speedo reads fast" issue alone. it reads!!!
3. As soon as the seed pods from the Liquid Amber tree dry a bit more, I'll fire up the leaf blower and blast them in to a corner for easy pickings.
Nice job of welding on that bracket. I like to weld more than I've skills. OK on acetylene, not so much on arc or MIG. Tanks are dry.
Not needed enough to go get full tanks. MIG will have to do. got some done. Awful looking, but withstood the hammer test!!
Grinder made them decent sorta. A bit of rattle cans and good to go.

BTW, I like a rich plum marinade with the pork, worth trying!

What a nicely productive day you had, Clarke!
There are a few little things I need to do to Nix before she well and truly hits the road for the Summer.
Today we'll take a cruise of about 75 miles round trip, just to show her off and stretch her legs after her short hibernation. Then it's an early supper with my Computer Guru at our favorite Mexican place. We're All looking forward to an enjoyable day, bright sun, calm winds, warm temps; an easy but vigorous drive.

I too had one of those lazy productive week-ends. My '76 Series 2 passed its annual MOT but comment was made on the right-hand tail light. I played with the switch and the light came on and the tester passed the car. However, when I used the car later in the week, the tail light was out again, together with the front side lamp and the number plate illumination! So I sprayed the switch with WD 40. No improvement! Then I noticed that the same lamps were out when switched to headlamps but they were illuminated when the front driving/fog lamp position was selected. So now I turned the garage upside down looking for a replacement switch unit - could not find it. So back to the original unit. Removed the plastics bezel and retaining clamp which gave access to the tiny gap between the selector and the metal tube. I gave that a good spray with the WD40 - had it pouring out the back of the switch. Eurika - it now works. All the lamps illuminate. I do not understand the connections but a good outcome. Having a glass of red wine in celebration.
