That's why they are hard to find.

All S1’s had a right hand mirror in Australia,I bought a hard to find left mirror from David Boger near 9 years ago and never fitted it as it would probably be the only S1 in Australia with a left mirror.
you just get used to not having it.

Default Missing the point !

Yes...The world can supply a plethora of cheap door mirrors. The S1 & S2 have a specific design. Some of us want THAT mirror.

An often ignored point is that driver's side and passenger side mirrors often differ in the angle of their mounting to the car. So a RH (driver's) mirror in Oz is not necessarily the same as a RH (passenger) mirror in the US, home of my esteemed friend David Boger.

I had a mate hold it in place while I was in the car, played around with the mounting position and marked it out , sent the car off for some paint touch up and forgot to tell the beater about fitting the mirror, it’s still sitting in the tool box in the boot 9 years later.

Default RH Installation

Found an actual RH S2 mirror but it still has the adjustment cables for the remote attached. Toggle itself is missing. Not sure where to get parts to fix the toggle issue if it even can be fixed. I really don't need to make it remote, but what should I do. Could just secure & tuck the cable or cut it off. Would it stay adjusted if set by hand ? Thoughts or experience ?

Default Ser 2 coupe rh door mirror

I'm having the same issue. I have the rhs mirror with the adjustment, but I think it will not adjust enough to be of any use, so I'm going to take it apart and make it manual. I remember rhs mirrors were an option and trying to remember how to drive without one is nerve wracking!!!

Denis,
I'm in Sydney Australia obviously were are right hand drive but the solution could be the same, i have an XJ6 S2, wanted a left hand side (my passenger side) mirror, outrageously expensive here in Aus/ so i bout a L/H/D drivers side form the US to match mine....perfect fit, same mirror with all mechanical parts and less than 1/2 the price in Aus........soooooooooo maybe you could get the opposite from Aus, get our drivers side which is your passenger side..........just a thought..if you need any contacts i'm a member of the australian jaguar drivers club so know plenty suppliers.........

Lightbulb Sticky notes

I found this in the Martin Robey catalouge;

I noticed yesterday whilst driving that its easier to look out towards the wing than turn your head to look out the door window. I'm not so sure I want to drill holes in my fender, granted ya gotta drill holes somewhere if ya want the second mirror...

Default Backing Up

Hard to back into a garage without a side mirror. The sheetmetal is not sacred & small holes are easy to repair if you should error.
