Pertronix n/a on fuel injected 4.2?
Hello all, once again I turn to the fantastic advise of you guys and your superior knowledge...
I was reading a few threads on smoother idling, running and performance, and saw many mentions of the Pertronix dizzy and coil. However, I just spoke to their UK base and they say none of their dizzys work on the fuel injected engines. I was wondering therefore if other jag owners who had mentioned using them on their mid-80s series 3s all simply had the carburetter engines?
I guess the crux of my post really is for advice on any upgrades that series 3 4.2 owners have done that make the engine happier, preserving it's strength.
As soon as I got the car I changed the oil, oil filter, air filter, HT leads and fuses. The car is currently in the workshop having one of it's fuel tanks and hoses replaced with new ones from SNG.
Any further advice though on modifications from the stock parts that aid the engine and electrics would be greatly appreciated. I also remember reading on one thread (with I now can't find!) that there is an upgrade thermostat gauge available which gives more accurate readings? Mine sits solidly just under 90 when warmed up, but when I put the lights on it decides to go right up, and fall back down again at random, which made me a bit nervous when it first went up!
Many thanks everyone, and again I just want to say how fantastic this forum is, and it's always inspiring to read how passionate everyone is about their jags.
Best wishes.
Robbie.

The Pertronix electronic system is worlds ahead of old point and condenser ignition.
But, the Jaguar system in good shape is also worlds ahead.
So, in my view, unless your distributor has issues, why go to Pertronix?
Worn bushings, weak sprnigs, leaky diaphragm, etc.
Perhaps a better way to match the ignition advance curve?
As the EFI relies on the distributor for pulses, why would the ECU care how generated,as long as they are.
EFI and point and condensors might not fare well. As the block wears, and the points corrode, dwell and to some degree timing changes.
If you are determined to get one, check with a tech at the world factory.
Perhaps the locals were sales guys, not techs.
