Keep in mind I'm just routing wire....I plan to pull it all back after I get the lengths correct then I can do final soldering/terminations and re-install.

So....I did a little cleaning up of the factory front lighting harness to get it all ready for my GM conversion. I'm mounting a 2-gang relay bank for high and low beams, and tying in the turn signals and parking light leads off the stock headlight switch leads.

I removed the goofy "factory" aux. cooling fan and cleaned up that trough area and used the existing holes left from removing the fan bracketry for the GM style rosebud clips to secure the crossover lighting loom.

I had to solder the parking lense ground to the housing by folding the tab over flat, then slipping a connector over it and dip soldering. I'll undercoat it prior to final assembly.

You should have greatly more reliable wiring for sure! It sort of makes you wonder what they were thinking with the flimsy ground wires on some of these components.

And, you're Very glad you haven't had to take the hood off!!! What a Royal Pain!

Lol...yeah-that hood doesn't look like fun that's for sure! I didn't want to have to remove it if I didn't have to. Again I'm just trying to update the wiring from the previous hack who knew nothing when the SBC swap was done so its no surprise the OEM Jag stuff was butchered. I don't have an electrical manual for it because so much was missing/spliced/added onto....etc. that my only course of action to make sense of the 500 various color combinations was to go circuit by circuit with my multi-meter and test light.

But, there is a yard close to me with quite a few XJ6's so I'm planning a full day of junkyard research and I still need to source oddball stuff like the OEM AC condenser, AC lines, etc. so I can modify the factory stuff over to my SBC accessories. The headlight buckets have a lot of road debris in them so I can only assume its missing some under fender splash guards on both sides. And, I'm missing the washer jug, wiring to the brake fluid reservoir (I assume low fluid warning?) and I found a bracket behind the passenger headlight which appeared to hold a container of some sort so yeah.....I still have a lot of factory Jag stuff to source. Its fun though.....the car is cool in my book and worth spending the time to make things right.

The brake fluid warning is in the reservoir cap. It's pretty rinky dink. Doesn't work on my car but being OEM it looks good in place.

That bracket behind the passenger headlight is for a US vapor recovery canister. There are tubes going to it from the tanks.

In the engine bay, one tube is open and the other goes to the carb just under the air cleaner.

OK....well good news. I found a lot of my missing parts from a single donor XJ6. Among the missing parts from this Jag I now have and plan to re-use are:

1.) Both wiper arms
2.) Windshield washer container (cap has break-will need a good one-)
3.) Coolant overflow jug/mounting bracket
4.) Master cylinder cap w/wiring for fluid sensor

Along with the above parts, I also grabbed the washer pump wiring, cowl and fender to hood seals, and other little things to make my wiring life easier.

I learned early in my short Jaguar experience, if you Ever, in your Wildest Dreams, think even remotely, that Maybe you'll need a part that's on the junker before your eyes, GRAB IT!! Because if you don't, when you discover you do in fact need that little thing, and you go back after it, it's GONE!!

Oh I 100% agree! I need to go back again....the interior had some gorgeous switches and dash buttons, dash trim under the column, very nice turn signal with perfect white indications on it....etc. stuff like that. I also need to grab all the AC stuff.....what a goofy place to put the drier....too! I checked the price on Rockauto for window motors just in case....wow! I think I may be snagging all of the used window motors I can find!

I was fortunate in that. As you have no doubt seen in the picture above, my dryer is right out there in front of God and everybody.

It Amazes me how some people have to make Everything HARD!!
