Purchasing 1st Jaguar......
#21
Thanks Bradley...
Unfortunately nothing there that I need....
Don't let this one get you down. Always start out with the most solid body you can find, and go on from there. Luckily these XJs are still priced fairly good, so hopefully you can find a good driveable car that you can work on and enjoy...
Cheers

Good Evening Bill. Unfortunately, no update at this point. Life kind of took control. However, my British Car loving father in-law is going to put his MGB restoration on hold to get the XJC road worthy. So its with high hopes that I'll be able to enjoy driving it next year.

Few things to mention for safety reasons, and you may already know...
Fuel tanks dirty or rusty will introduce swill into the fuel changeover and return valves, so make ultimately sure your tanks are clean before switching on the car/fuel pump. If you replace valves before you clean the tanks you will run contamination immediately through the new bits and they will end up in the trash with the old bits.
When you start the car watch immediately for an overflowing charcoal canister (under front passenger fender over the tire) and if it does shut the car off immediately, have a big fire extinguisher ready at all times. Not to scare you, but I've BTDT with several jags and it pays to be careful especially since it's a coupe. Replace all fuel injection hoses including injector short hoses (or carb hoses) that look ok. These are cheap and ultimately valuable things to do before starting the car and may save a lot of time, money and grief ...imho.
Mine is very similar to yours...
