Quick once over before a 3000 km road trip.
Heading off next week in the old girl for a bit of a drive so today I decided it would be a good idea to jack up "Miss Fireball" and have a squirt around with the grease gun and cast an eye over stuff on the underside.
Lucky I did, the rear pads are down to about 1mm of material. So a quick Ph call to Jagdaim on Monday morning will have the pads at my front door Tuesday. Dr Phill will be over Friday for a beer and we can jack her up again and replace the pads before heading off next weekend.
Added 1/2 a litre of oil, a dash of fluid in the PS and good to go.
The drivers seat has been sagging a bit so I removed the seat to check it out, only to find the pad comes off without removing the whole seat
Rubber base sheet and support straps all but falling off so I weaved some bodge magic on it until we get back and I can sort it properly.

Heading south down the Pacific Highway to Sydney with stopovers on the way, Visit the MIL for a couple of days, catch up with Daf11e (Jim & Nina) while we are in town then head back north & check out the Hunter region and stay at our favourite meal stopover in Uralla and maybe catch up with Cat_as_trophy (Ken) in Inverell.
And somewhere in there a quick side trip through the Oxley Highway from Wauchope to Walcha or the reverse. It is one of the most awesome bike roads I have ever ridden and would like to throw Fireball through there.

To firm up the foam you can get some carpet padding (the foam rubber kind) and put pieces between the old foam and the bottom assembly.
The road trip sounds great. Love it when folks hit the highway in their vintage cars. Do you have lots of music ready to crank up? Be sure to post some pics.

Epic Fail
Less than 36 hours before departure the pads were replaced and I popped out to the shop only to have an epic brake fail backing out of my garage. Picture for ilsustration purposes only, to show where I brake tested.
Half way down the drive I found myself with no peddle. A bit of 10pm investigating found a front brake hose failure. Nothing to do with the rear brake pad change, but good to find now and not on the road.
Sphincter-puckering moment happened, lucky no traffic.
If nothing is available off the shelf tomorrow we will be Jeeping it for 3000km.

Being braided lines and looking ok I never gave them a second thought.

Bat Phone to Murray Scoble as well(Muz52) of Peninsula Jag Engine Centre, he is going to do an early Saturday scout of his shop to see if he can get me on the road.
It is great having mates give up a Saturday morning to get you going.

WOW, Clarke, Narrow Miss for sure!!
Right about now I'm Very glad I changed ALL Nix's brake hoses a couple years ago, as I do find myself pulling her down to ZERO from about 70 on the freeway, way more often than I like.
I hope you get it all sorted. 3000km in a Jeep just doesn't seem like much fun.
