Default quieten the car

Hi,
My car has quite a drone when I go above 80kph (my missus recons she can hear my at home driving down the street at 40kph).
I had a look and saw that I only have the front exhausts either side, and not the resonators behind them. The exhaust has had a mod where it is piped out of the mufflers and straight piped to where the exhaust does the "curvey" bit out of the body.
My question is what would be the best/ easiest way to quieten it - update the existing mufflers to a bigger/ quieter ones, or add the resonators back in?

cheers Clayton

Add the rear resonators. They will make quite a difference, and won't restrict performance. I had a car with similar drone and added resonators and it was completely gone. Any exhaust shop should be able to do something for you.

My casr has no drone. As a lump, it has a true twin exhaust system. A PO replaced the OEM resonators with small glass pack mufflers. It works just right. Nice quiet V8 burble at idle, and not loud at speed.

When I had the 4.2 I went the other way, I removed the front mufflers and kept the resonators gave it a bit deeper of a growl, but no drone and wasn’t loud enough to be annoying to anyone around, are you looking to make it silent again like from factory? Or want a bit more sound but no drone?

I put the resonators on and it was exactly what I was after, quiet and no drone when I get over 80kph - cant believe the difference.
I was quoted around $800 for either 2 new resonators or keep current system with 2 new quieter mufflers. I only paid $70 for the pair as they looked rough, but they scrubbed up alright with no rust holes. one happy camper..thanks this forum is brilliant.
