It seems like every day I "discover" something while in the shop with my Jaguar. Today's discovery is that the rear windscreen flange finisher (seal) does not make sense, as compared to the front windscreen seal. Picture included. The slot that should fit over the flange is much wider than it needs to be. No reason it should be any wider than the front seal, same flange construction. The rear seal is on the left and front seal on the right in the picture. The glass side of the front seal is against the ink pen. I think the rear seal is oriented the same, but there seems to be way too much bulge on either side of the seal and the glass would be held too far away from the flange.
To anyone who has this figured out, I could use your advice.
Never dealt with the back glass so I'm talking outta my hat. But the basic mounting principle is the same as the front, as you suggest.
According to my research the flange finisher should be BAC2288. This is a different part than used on the front windshield but, still, it should fit the flange firmly, I'd say
Maybe you just got the wrong parts?
I did happen across this nice tidbit which won't help you but is worth posting anyway, as it's a good illustration of the mounting arrangement that might help others
That drawing says it all and the puzzle piece I couldn't find. I had the front illustration from the shop manual, but they didn't bother to show the rear installation even though it is different. Again, thank you very much. I'm going to forward my picture to SNG, maybe I got a Friday afternoon special.
You know....you have come to my rescue so much, I really think you should get out more.
