I put the business end in the inner cup edge, as I'm thinking that's the only way to get it loose. Otherwise, as you say, one could pull the rubber apart and still be left with the cup "welded" to the body.
As I mentioned in my post, I sprayed the parts *Liberally* with penitrant over a period of several days, and even then had to get a Very Loooong pry bar to gain enough leverage to pop them off. The bar I got wasn't very expensive, but if you have a rental store, you might be able to rent something that will work.
Unless they were assembled with a liberal quantity of grease between the cup and the body mount, the two will have welded themselves together in the past few decades, with all the water and road grime in that environment.
Not only that, grease massively aids in seating the cups at reassembly.

One whack
So I took measurements of the hole between the arm bush and cup.
Drew it on paper, and stared at it for a bit.
Then I decided to take an old 12" crow bar I had, and cut it to where there was an approximate 90° angle, and enough curve to cover the bolt hole.
Then I put the end between the bush and cup, gave in one whack with a heavy hammer, and the radius arm dropped in tack.
Same for both sides.
Actually took me longer to draw the thing than it did to pop those off.
Thanx for all your help guyz, this is a great furum!!
